Dr Simon Lambert is the Deputy Director for Electrification and a Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University (UK). He received the MEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2008 and PhD in 2012 both from Newcastle University in the U.K.

In 2009 and 2010 he was a visiting researcher at Zhe Jiang University in China. He has over 17 years’ experience researching power electronics, machines and drives specialising in battery systems engineering. He has a research focus on battery recycling, degradation, production quality control and safety. Prior to joining the academic team, he worked on numerous national and international collaborative research projects with several EV OEMs in the area of battery science.

He is currently leading the test and dismantling work stream for the Faraday Institution’s flagship Recycling of Lithium-Ion Batteries (ReLiB) project and the large-scale testing work stream for the FI’s SAFEBATT project. He has also led battery testing and characterisation workstreams in projects with the Royal Academy of Engineering, FP7 & the APC.
