Shiva Jethwa is a PhD student working at the University of Birmingham in the department of Chemical Engineering. His research is to explore new and innovative methods to recover and reprocess the electrolyte material found in Li-ion batteries, used in electric vehicles.

He attained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sheffield. Prior to starting his PhD research he completed a year with Liberty Speciality Steels, in Sheffield as a Quality Control Placement Engineer working primarily in the area of metallurgical research and development of high-strength steels.
