Specialism: Process Systems Engineering
Institution: Newcastle University
Dr Jie Zhang is a Reader in Process Systems Engineering at Newcastle University with special research interests in developing reliable machine learning and AI techniques for solving complex problems in the process systems engineering area. His expertise include developing machine learning based techniques for reliable data-driven modelling and control of industrial processes, reliable machine learning surrogate model based optimisation with applications to battery second life optimisation, data-driven process performance monitoring and diagnostics with application to batteries.
Dr Jie Zhang is one of the key academics within the Centre for Process Analytics and Control Technology (CPACT) since its formation in 1997 and worked with CPACT industrial members on many projects. He is on the CPACT Industrial Management Board and CPACT Stirring Committee, as well as on the CPACT Webinar and Course Committee.
Within the ReLiB project, he works on Work Package 1.3 Data-driven Decision Making for Battery Recycling and Reuse.
